BISSO MARINE : Quality Management System (QMS)
Management Systems Principles
Bisso Marine maintains accredited certifications for all three of its management systems. All three systems include a number of management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, process approach and continual improvement.
ISO 9001:2008 – Quality
Bisso Marine obtained ISO 9001-2008 certification from ABS December 14th 2009. ISO 9001:2008 specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. All requirements of ISO 9001:2008 are intended to be applicable to all organizations, regardless of type, size and product provided.
ISO 14001:2004 – Environmental
Bisso Marine obtained ISO 14001-2004 certification from the ABS March 3rd 2015. The ISO 14000 standard addresses various aspects of environmental management. It provides practical tools for companies and organizations looking to identify and control their environmental impact and constantly improve their environmental performance.
ISO 14001:2004 sets out the criteria for a certified and documented environmental management system. It does not state requirements for environmental performance, but rather maps out a framework that a company or organization can follow to set up an effective environmental management system while encompassing all Federal, State, and local environmental laws and guidelines. Using ISO 14001:2004 can provide assurance to company management and employees as well as customers that environmental impact is being constantly measured and improved.
OHSAS 18001 – Health and Safety
Bisso Marine obtained OHSAS 18001-2007 certification from ABS March 3rd 2015. The OHSAS 18001-2007 standard specifies requirements for a documented Occupational Health & Safety management system. OSHAS 18001 helps an organization develop, implement and maintain policies, objectives and procedures which take into account legal requirements and information about occupational health and safety risks. It applies to all types and sizes of organizations and accommodates diverse geographical, cultural and social conditions.
All ISO certified management systems are required to perform internal checks on the functionality of the systems. Checking that the system works is a vital part of any Management System. Performance of internal audits ensures each management is functioning compliantly. All findings are reported to Executive Management during yearly reviews. In addition, BISSO MARINE uses the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) as the independent certification body to verify that it is in conformity to the standard.
